Step-by-step guide to bucket leak test:
- Add water to your pool to its normal level (halfway up skimmer)
- Fill a 5-gallon bucket with pool water, leaving 1 inch from the top empty
- Place the bucket on the first or second step of the pool so that it is submerged about 5 inches
- With a market or electrical tape, mark the water level on the inside and outside of the bucket
- Ensure your pump is on and set it to run for 24 hours straight. If you have autofill, ensure it is off. It's also best to do this when there is no rain in the forecast.
- After 24 hours, compare the level in the bucket to the level in the pool
