With the current state of COVID-19, the backyard has become a place of relaxation and a little piece of paradise for many families. Precision Pool and Spa appreciates this and strives to ensure your pool water is welcoming on these hot summer days. While our pool maintenance service is weekly, there are a few things you can do to ensure your water is sparkling in-between service visits.
Trim the Trees If your backyard is a true tropical oasis with beautiful greenery surrounding the pool, it's important to keep the plants and trees trimmed. The excess leaves and debris will quickly fill the skimmer basket and can make the pool appear dirty due to phosphates in the debris. Chlorine can't do its job with heightened phosphates, causing the water to become murky or hazy. Check the Skimmer Basket Take a quick look at the skimmer basket mid-week to ensure it's not full. If you notice it's filling up with debris quickly, please empty it whenever needed. This will help the pump continue to push the debris into the skimmer basket and not back in the pool. Beware of Rodent Treatments If you're doing any type rodent treatment around the house, it's critical to check for any dead rodents in the skimmer before pool activity. Rodents get thirsty in the heat and will head to the pool for water. Just do a quick check before jumping in the pool. Keep an Eye on the Water Level Maintaining the right water level not only keeps the chemicals balanced, but also ensures the pump isn't overworked. The pool water should be kept about half-way up the skimmer opening. If you notice your pool water is disappearing faster than normal, give us a call for a leak or system check. Don't want to worry about refilling the water constantly? There are some auto-fill options that may be helpful. Just let us know and we can share what will work best with your setup. Thanks for the tip that monitoring water levels can ensure that the pump isn't overworked. I recently had a pool built in my property and I have been using it at least once a week to cool off during this hot summer. I think during hotter days of the year, it would be better to have more frequent pool maintenance to make sure that it's always in its best condition.

The number one thing my sister has always wanted in her home is a swimming pool. I'll let her know that pools require regular maintenance and work not just by professionals, but also by herself. It's good to know that she'll want to use a skimmer basket to clean up debris and to make sure she regularly cleans it out. This will be good for her to know since she mentioned that she wants to install a pool this summer.

Thanks for pointing out that we should keep the plants and trees around our pools trimmed to avoid the pool appearing dirty. My husband and I have an inground pool that is surrounded by plants and trees. I guess we should look for pool supplies on Monday to ensure that every leaf falling in our pool will be removed immediately.

Thanks for helping me understand that chlorine won't be able to do its job well if the pool has heightened phosphates. I guess that is one of the reasons why it is best to get the pool maintained. I hope I can hire professionals near us since I don't have the skills and tools to check the chlorine and phosphate levels of our pool.

Thanks for helping me understand that the right water level will keep the chemical balance as well at keeping the pump from overworking. I will keep that in mind when I get the swimming pool remodeled next year. We wanted it to be wider now that the backyard has been cleared of some trees, so we need to know how to take care of it once it's done to keep it in good condition.

Thank you for reminding me to check the skimmer basket mid-week to assure it's not full, as it will help the pump continue to push the debris into the skimmer basket and not back in the pool. We have been having trouble with it lately since much debris are falling into the pool. I think it's better to have the swimming pool remodeled in a way that will prevent debris from coming to the pool.

I like how you mentioned that trees can bring dirt to your pool. My uncle mentioned to me last night that his friend is hoping to find a pool pump as he is planning to replace the pump of their pool because of a water problem and asked if I have any idea what is the best option to do. Thanks to this informative article and I'll be sure to tell him that it will be much better if he consults a trusted pump products supplier company as they can answer all his inquiries.

That is true that disappearing levels is a major concern. We have been having a drought in California and are low on water. We can't afford to lose any more water.

Thank you for clarifying that maintaining the proper water level keeps the chemicals in balance and prevents the pump from being overworked. My mother complains that there is a problem with the chemical balance and water level in our pool. I will advise her to get the pool's pump motor repaired so that it can operate properly.
